Homecoming Dance 2008

Meg had another wonderful homecoming dance experience! After looking for 3.5 hours for THIS dress (the one I picked out within the first 30 minutes, I would like to add), she had a great time with bff Sarah Hossfeld and boyfriend Scott. Our good friends the Fondeurs were in town to finish packing their house for their final move to Florida. It was good timing as they hit EC's birthday and homecoming. Meg and Sarah had plenty of paparazzi again to send them off for their Cinderella fun. Meg wouldn't dance (according to Scott) but they had fun nonetheless!

Powder Puff Football Game

It's Homecoming Week at Oswego East! I have to say that up here, Homecoming is nothing like it was for us long time ago. They don't wear dresses or even dress up for the court! They do, however, have class competitions with the Powder Puff football game being part of that.

Meg and Sarah were on the team! Meg was a safety and Sarah the punter. They did great, until the Freshmen started running at them with the ball :-) They had fun, though, even in the first really cold day since May. And, in the end, the Sophomores were victorious!

Happy Birthday, Ellen Claire!

Happy 4th Birthday, Ellen Claire! We had a very simple day for EC. She had her family gifts in the early morning and then was able to celebrate at school with her new friends. I was the Mystery Reader in her class, which was a real surprise to EC. We read "The Monster at the End of this Book" starring Grover--only one of my top favorite kid books :-)

Ellen Claire loves her new bike basket, horn and helmet so much! She is "hell on wheels" on that thing! She NEEDED the helmet to protect her noggin, for goodness sake! Not since the days of Will Piedmont have I seen or experienced anything like Ellen Claire!! But when did she start turning into a real kid and not a toddler anymore? You should hear her sentences and her imaginative stories. She comes home and plays school, just like Meg used to do. She can even spell outloud her first name. She can write ECP, but we've got to get her off of saying her name is ECP :-) But to all of us, she'll always be ECP!

High School Football is back!

You know that Fall has arrived when it's time to sit in the stands for a high school football game! We've had beautiful football weather and have had so much fun at the games. We've been here for 3 full years now, with this being our 4th fall. It is such a comfort for me to be able to sit in the stands of the local high school and KNOW PEOPLE!! I don't know how to explain it well enough, but just know that there is such warmth in having a place. We've moved so often, and each time we've gained amazing friendships. But it's good to have a place. Oh--and the football team is not doing so well :-) But the cheerleaders look GREAT!

First Days of School

We had a big season of school starting this year. Meg wouldn't let me take her picture, but she headed off for her Sophomore year of high school (which happened with a great deal less anxiety than last year!). Will hopped on the bus, ready to be one of the big kids at school (and on the bus) for 4th grade and Ellen Claire wanted kids to "be her friend" when she went for her first day of real preschool. All is hitting a good stride now that we are into October. Schedules are set and carpools are running! Midterms are happening and circle time is singing! If we could just keep the heat...

Latest Edition of Ellen Claire's World

I let Ellen Claire take pictures at the zoo/park. Aren't these just precious? Her shadow and her toes... I couldn't find the kid camera that I wanted for her birthday, but I think that it will most definitely be on her Christmas list. There are about 20 of these on my camera, but I thought that y'all might not like to see 20 pictures of the same bunch of begonias...but who knows, maybe we have the next award winning National Geographic photographer in my house right now?!?

Last Blast of Summer Fun

After a couple of weeks at home this summer, after we had been travelling all the time, we got a little, um, stir crazy. So Christine and I took the kids to the zoo/park and had a blast! This is the same one we took Bryan to earlier this summer. It's close, small and a great getaway for an afternoon of a trip without being a "trip"! We ended the day at the Dairy Hut--Oswego's downtown, homegrown ice cream shop. We had such a good time and, except for the ice cream, it was totally free!!!
